Which cargo e-bike can carry two kids?
Two models make a two-child claim: the Aventon Abound LR and the HOVSCO HovCart. Aventon lists the Abound SR for a single passenger. Velotric sells the GoMad with two passenger kits but gives no child count. The total load limits are 440 lb, 440 lb, 450 lb and 500 lb, and every one includes the adult rider. We found no independent test with two children aboard.

What is left for the children
Subtract the adult and any bags from the total load limit to see what is left for the children. This is arithmetic on the limits above, not a safety rating. If a child rides on the rear rack, the rack limit applies too.
| Adult rider weighs | Left on the Abound LR | Left on the Abound SR | Left on the HovCart | Left on the GoMad |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 150 lb | 290 lb | 290 lb | 300 lb | 350 lb |
| 180 lb | 260 lb | 260 lb | 270 lb | 320 lb |
| 220 lb | 220 lb | 220 lb | 230 lb | 280 lb |
Before you buy
- Ask the maker, in writing, the age and weight limits for its child seat or passenger kit. Those limits can be lower than the bike's total load.
- Follow the child-seat instructions and your local laws on child passengers and helmets. This site does not give child-safety advice.
- Every claim about carrying children on this page comes from the makers. Electric Bike Report says the Abound LR can carry child passengers with the optional seat pad and handrail and that the GoMad can haul a child or adult passenger; Mountain Weekly News tested the HovCart with a kids' seat, and its photo shows one child aboard.
Other cargo bikes that carry two kids are not covered yet. Only Aventon, HOVSCO and Velotric models are checked so far, and the Velotric Triker is a trike, not a kid-hauler.
